Eco-friendly 1800.Mr.Rubbish is the First and Only
Rubbish Removal Company in the United States Using Hybrid-Electric
Trucks
1800.Mr.Rubbish is picking up in 2008 where Al Gore
left off in 2007. The rubbish removal company is very conscientious
of climate change and is doing its part to combat carbon emission.
The company recently purchased a brand new fleet of Kenworth T270
Class 6 Hybrid trucks to reduce its own carbon
emissions.
These hybrid trucks run on a combination of
electricity and diesel fuel. Every time a driver steps on the
brakes electricity is generated and stored through a process called
“regenerative braking.” The trucks only use diesel
above 25 mph, making them ideal for stop-and-go traffic in major
American cities.
The fleet is so fuel-efficient that after 100 hours on
the road you could swipe your finger around a truck’s muffler
and barely see smote on your finger. Utilizing hybrid-electric
trucks is an initial step towards the company’s goal of
making all collected trash 100 percent
recyclable.
“We believe it is our responsibility, as a
rubbish removal business, to minimize our own pollution as well as
that of others,” says Greg Murjani, founder and chief
executive officer of 1800.Mr.Rubbish. “By using this fleet of
trucks, our company is fulfilling its responsibility to the
environment and the general
public.”
1800.Mr.Rubbish is also making history. It is the
first rubbish removal company to use hybrid-electric trucks in the
United States. The government is so excited about their use that it
is offering tax abatements for every vehicle
purchased.
“Together we need to begin healing Mother
Earth’s wounds,” Murjani says, adding, “Our
children are inheriting a hemorrhaging planet and unless we start
cleaning her up now things will only get
worse.”
